Buyers of NYC offers an approval-based mail-in purchase-evaluation program for eligible domestic submissions. Before shipping, tell us what you own, receive a case number and review the written instructions for your specific item, approved shipping value, carrier method and coverage. Do not send an unsolicited package.
Important: Mail-in approval is item-specific. A submitted description or photograph is not a binding offer, authentication, grading result or formal appraisal.
Every approved shipment receives a unique case number, written eligibility confirmation, approved shipping value, and designated carrier instructions. Do not ship until you receive approval. An unsolicited package may be refused, may not have applicable coverage and may be returned without evaluation.
The mail-in purchase-evaluation program is designed for United States sellers who own eligible fine jewelry, luxury timepieces, diamonds, coins, or precious metals but prefer remote evaluation. Every transaction operates under clear, contractual customer policies:
Approved domestic United States submissions only at launch
Required before shipping
Issued by Buyers of NYC after eligibility and coverage review
Item-specific and subject to the approved carrier or insurance terms
No fee for the purchase evaluation
None
Within two business days after documented receipt
May require up to five business days
Normally three business days, unless stated otherwise
ACH, wire or business check after acceptance and required verification
Returned using the approved covered return process
Individual review; in-person or secure-courier handling may be recommended
Every approved shipment receives:
An unsolicited package may be refused, may not have applicable coverage and may be returned without evaluation. Never reuse another customer’s label or ship a different item from the one described in the approval.
Every category has specific carrier and insurance parameters. Remote purchase evaluations are available for eligible items across fine jewelry, luxury timepieces, diamonds, gemstones, precious metals, and coins.
Prohibited Materials Notice: Hazardous, contaminated, industrial, medical, dental, catalytic, chemical, powder, liquid or unknown material is not accepted through the ordinary mail-in program. Call before transporting or shipping any unusual material.

Complete watches, watch-only examples, box-and-paper sets and some non-running watches

From initial approval through dual-staff recorded unboxing and payment, every submission adheres to documented security protocols designed to protect your valuables.
Describe the category, approximate quantity, known brand or material, condition, documents and estimated value range. Submit representative photographs through the secure evaluation form.
The team confirms whether the item fits the active purchasing scope and whether an approved carrier and shipping-coverage route is available for the item and value.
If approved, you receive the case number, label, approved shipping value, packaging rules, tender location, coverage summary and timetable. Review the instructions before packing.
Photograph each item and accessory, protect pieces individually, place them in a rigid inner box and use a plain outer box with cushioning on every side. Do not identify the contents or value on the exterior.
Bring the sealed package to the specified staffed carrier location or approved pickup. Do not use a street drop box, unattended counter or unauthorized third party. Keep the acceptance receipt.
Buyers of NYC photographs the unopened package, records its weight and opens it under continuous video with two authorized employees. The contents are reconciled against the case inventory and pre-shipment photographs.
The team reviews the physical item and decides whether to present a purchase offer. A standard case is normally reviewed within two business days after controlled receipt; complex cases may take longer and receive an update.
If you accept, complete the secure identity, ownership and payment process. If you decline—or Buyers of NYC does not make an offer—the approved item is returned through the documented covered-return process.
Shipping coverage is not an unlimited guarantee and is not based automatically on a retail receipt, sentimental value or prior appraisal. The written approval identifies the value and method approved for the shipment.
Coverage is subject to conditions that may include:
Review the case instructions before shipping and ask questions before tendering the package. Do not assume that ordinary carrier declared value is the same as specialized shipping insurance.
Follow these 10 packaging steps precisely to preserve your shipment coverage and ensure chain-of-custody verification:
Photograph each item, accessory and document before packing.
Protect each item separately with an appropriate pouch, holder, capsule or small box.
Place the protected items and a simple inventory inside a rigid inner box.
Place the inner box in a plain outer carton with cushioning on all sides.
Prevent movement inside the carton.
Seal every seam with strong shipping tape.
Remove old labels and value-revealing markings.
Apply only the issued label.
Photograph the completed package.
Tender it exactly as instructed and retain the receipt.
Exterior Marking Prohibition: Do not write “jewelry,” “watch,” “gold,” “diamond,” “coin,” “bullion,” a luxury brand or the item value on the outside of the package.
The package is checked against the expected tracking number and moved into the controlled receiving process. Before it is opened, the exterior and label are photographed and the delivered weight is recorded. Two authorized staff members then open the package under continuous video and compare the contents with the customer’s inventory and pre-shipment photographs.
If the contents match, the items enter access-controlled custody for evaluation. If there is damage, missing content, an unexpected item or a material discrepancy, the evidence is preserved and the customer is contacted before the ordinary evaluation continues.
The purchase evaluation may consider identity, materials, construction, condition, documents, brand, market demand and the most appropriate complete-piece, gemstone, coin, bullion, component or recoverable-material route.
Not every item receives an offer. When an offer is presented, it normally remains open for three business days unless the written offer states a different period. You may accept or decline without an evaluation fee.
After acceptance, Buyers of NYC completes required identity, ownership, compliance and payment verification. Payment is initiated by ACH, wire or business check, normally within one business day after all conditions are satisfied. Bank-processing time can vary. Buyers of NYC does not mail cash.
If you decline—or if Buyers of NYC decides not to purchase the item—the approved submission is returned using an appropriate covered, tracked service. The return is packaged under documented custody, photographed, weighed and associated with a return tracking number.
The standard return-dispatch target is within two business days after the case is closed and the return address is confirmed. Address changes require additional verification. Returns are not sent to a hotel, freight forwarder, temporary accommodation or unrelated third party without enhanced review.
Contact the assigned case manager immediately. Keep every receipt, photograph, tracking message and communication. Buyers of NYC will preserve its tracking, weight, receiving, video and custody evidence and will coordinate the carrier or insurance claim according to the applicable terms.
Coverage and settlement are governed by the applicable carrier or insurance contract. The program does not promise reimbursement beyond the approved covered value or for values and losses excluded by the policy.
Customer obligations essential to preserving transit insurance, custody integrity and accurate remote evaluation:
Describe the item accurately and disclose known damage, alterations and missing components.
Confirm ownership or authority to sell.
Follow the approved packaging and tender instructions.
Use the issued label for the approved item only.
Retain pre-shipment photographs, inventory and carrier receipt.
Respond to identity, ownership, payment or claim requests.
Do not send prohibited, unapproved or hazardous material.
Our documented institutional standards for intake verification, dual-custody opening, vault security and prompt settlement:
Confirm eligibility before issuing a label.
State the approved shipping value and method in writing.
Monitor the expected shipment.
Document receipt and opening.
Reconcile the contents and communicate discrepancies.
Store the item under controlled access.
Provide the evaluation or a status update within the stated target.
Initiate verified payment after acceptance or arrange the approved return.
Preserve evidence and administer claims when applicable.
Our senior gemologists, numismatists, and luxury watch evaluators review every mailed item under calibrated scales, continuous video, and strict chain-of-custody protocols.

No. Every package must be approved and assigned a case number before shipment. Unsolicited packages may be refused or returned and may not have applicable shipping coverage.
The recommended launch program accepts approved domestic submissions from the 50 states and District of Columbia. International, territory, military and freight-forwarder shipments require separate review and are not part of the standard launch scope.
For an approved case, Buyers of NYC provides the authorized inbound label and, when no transaction occurs, the approved return label. The program may deny or recover extraordinary costs when a customer sends prohibited, undisclosed or materially different property in violation of the agreement.
No. The correct term is item-specific shipping coverage. The approved value, commodity, carrier, insurance source, conditions and exclusions are confirmed in the case instructions before shipment.
The estimate helps select an appropriate carrier, coverage level and risk tier. It is not a purchase offer and does not determine the final evaluation.
Not for the standard program. The issued label and controlled account help preserve coverage, tracking, tender and claim requirements. An exception requires written approval before shipment.
No. Approved high-value packages must be tendered according to the instructions, normally to a staff member at an approved location or pickup. Retain the acceptance receipt showing the tracking number and initial scan.
No. Use plain, discreet packaging and only the issued label. Do not place jewelry, watch, diamond, gold, coin, bullion, luxury-brand or value references on the exterior.
An eligible watch may be considered without box and papers. Describe what is available during approval and keep all links, straps, clasps, service records and removed components together.
Some products may qualify, but the carrier and coverage must expressly include the commodity. Coins and gold bars are excluded from certain jewelry-focused carrier programs, so these cases require separate approval.
Possibly, but not through the ordinary workflow. The case requires individual underwriting or a secure-courier solution, and an in-person visit may be the safer recommendation.
Large collections require advance planning. Provide a preliminary inventory and representative photographs so the team can decide whether to approve several shipments, schedule an office visit or arrange another controlled solution.
The carrier record, customer packaging photographs, tender receipt, delivered package photographs and receiving weight become part of the discrepancy review. Buyers of NYC preserves the unopened package and opening video before deciding the next step.
Yes. The recommended program uses continuous video and two authorized staff members for package opening and item reconciliation. The recording is retained according to the case and privacy schedule.
The standard target is within two business days after documented receipt. Complex collections, unusual items or additional research may require up to five business days, and the team will provide an update.
No. The purchase evaluation is no-obligation. Ownership remains with you until you accept an offer and all transaction conditions are completed.
Approved payments use ACH, wire or business check after identity, ownership and compliance verification. Bank information is collected through a secure process, not ordinary email, and cash is not mailed.
Buyers of NYC pays for the approved covered return when the submission followed the agreement. Exceptions may apply to prohibited, undisclosed or materially different property sent in violation of the instructions.
The standard mail-in service is a purchase evaluation for a possible offer. It is not automatically an insurance, estate, tax, probate, litigation or charitable-donation appraisal.
The approval form requests contact information and item details. Do not submit government identification, Social Security numbers, bank information, wills, trusts, court records, full serial numbers or other sensitive records through the initial public form.
Buyers of NYC offers an approval-based mail-in purchase-evaluation program for eligible domestic submissions.
